Flower Festival

This rug was inspired by the early 17th century English crewel designs. The combination of the flowing centerpiece along with the contrast of a more modern design in the edging, was what I really enjoyed about this piece. Additionally the color was a new twist on what you would typically think of in crewel design. I also enjoyed the small "pop" of intense colors, and the corners each hooked differently to add some whimsy and visual interest to this rug design.

Flower Festival original design and hooked by Kelly Kanyok. This design was completed in 2016. Measuring 32x45 on linen. 100% hand and milled dyed wool. Hooked in 3,4,& 5 widths.
